Traffic Report W/C 15th April, 2019

EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS

  • It is planned to transport components for a wind farm from Killybegs, Co. Donegal to Oweninny, Bellacorick,Ballina by road  during the period 6/1/2019-6/7/2019 approx.
  • The loads will be travelling from Sunday night (leaving Killybegs ) to Friday mornings.
  • The loads are wide-up to 4.5 metres wide and long (up to 66 metres or 216 feet) approx.
  • Traffic delays are expected while the loads are travelling along the roads.
  • The route through Sligo is N15 -Cliffoney to Sligo , N4 Sligo to Ballysadare  and N59- Ballisodare to Ballina.
  • All loads will be under Garda escort.
  • It is proposed to leave Killybegs at 10pm (first load leaving 6/1/2019) and the loads are expected in Cliffoney at midnight approx. and be in Ballysadare at 1am approx and then travel onto Ballina via N59.
  • Loads are expected to be in Bellacorick (on site) by 5am-5.30am approx.

SLIGO AREA

  • Crash Barrier Repair will take place at various locations on the N4 Dual Carriageway between Collooney roundabout and Summerhill Roundabout. The repair works will take place in both the central median and the verge, and are scheduled for both north bound and south bound lanes. The works will last approximately 2 weeks. Full traffic management will be in operation. Traffic is urged to exercise extreme caution on the route.
  • Grass cutting and litter picking will take place along the N4 Dual Carriageway between the Toberbride roundabout and Summerhill roundabout. Traffic management will be in operation. Traffic is urged to exercise caution on the route.
  • Construction works will continue on the Western Distributor Road Phase 2.  For the coming week traffic management will be in place along the Western Distributor link road (west of Caltragh Interchange Junction S3)”.  Minor delays are expected.  
  • A scaffolding licence has been granted for Adelaide Street at Salon 2.  The scaffolding will be on the footpath with pedestrians catered for and no traffic delays are expected.
  • A scaffolding licence has been granted for 29/30 Wolfe Tone Street.  The scaffolding will be on the footpath with pedestrians catered for and no traffic delays are expected.

CARTRON HILL WATERMAIN AND LEAD REPLACEMENT CONTRACT:

  • Irish Water are decommissioning 237m of cast iron watermain and associated lead service pipes in the Cartron Hill Estate. In this regard works are to be undertaken on the R261 at the junction with the estate.  Single Lane Traffic Management will be in place on the R291. Traffic control will be in operation for all works, minor delays are expected.

N59 Ballisodare to Belladrehid Railway Bridge:

  • Pavement works on the N59 between Ballisodare and Belladrehid Railway bridge will commence on Tuesday 23rd of April and is expected to last two weeks. Ironworks (manhole lids etc.) will be raised and reset. Traffic management will be in place between Cloondara on the Ballina Road and Belladrehid Railway Bridge where the road will be reduced to one lane. Minor Delays are expected and motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible. Sligo County Council regret the inconvenience caused while these essential works are being carried out.

NORTH SLIGO AREA 

  • Essential repair works to damaged pedestrian crossing on the N15 National Primary Road in Cliffoney village will take place. Works expected to last 1 day. Traffic management will be in operation and delays may be expected.

  

ENNISCRONE AREA

  • Drainage works will be carried out on the R297 at Scurmore. Traffic lights will be in operation minor delays expected.
  • Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  

BALLYMOTE AREA

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area.  Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

N4 COLLOONEY TO CASTLEBALDWIN ROAD PROJECT:

The construction of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project has commenced and is expected to be ongoing until Q2, 2021.  Traffic management will be in place for the following works:

  • N4/N17 Toberbride Roundabout heading south on the existing N4 towards Castlebaldwin - SITE CLEARANCE works being undertaken for the first 3Km on the outbound traffic side. Hard Shoulder may be closed to traffic at times.
  • Forming N4 Site Access & General Site Clearance on the L14019 at Cloonamahan.
  • Forming N4 Site Access & General Site Clearance on the L55016 at Knockagroagh.
  • Forming N4 Site Access & General Site Clearance on the L5502 at Drumfin.
  • Forming N4 Site Access & General Site Clearance on the L1502 at Cloonlurg. 
  • Forming N4 Site Access & General Site Clearance on the L5402 at Carrownngark.
  • Forming N4 Site Access including Passing Bays including temporary site compound on the L1404 at Drumderry/Castlebaldwin.
  • As Part of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Improvement we will have a Stop Go on the N4 at the Carrownagark Cross Roads on Wednesday the 17th April from 10am to 1pm for the widening of the L5402.
  • As Part of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Improvement Scheme we will have the L5402 Carrownagark Road closed on Thursday the 18th April from 10am to 3pm for essential road widening and strengthening works at the junction, local diversions will be in place.

Other Works – Ballymote Area:

  • Road strengthening works will commence on the L-5206 at Boley/Roughan on Monday 15th April 2019. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to one day. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Road strengthening works will commence on the R284 at Carrickcoola on Tuesday 16th April 2019. The road will be closed from Ballyfarnon to Ballygawley to facilitate the works. Diversions will be in place via N4. Works are expected to last 2 days. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Road strengthening works will commence on the L-5601 at Portinch on Monday 15th April 2019. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. The road will be closed on Tuesday 16th to facilitate the works with diversions in place via R293 & R294 to Ballymote. Works are expected to last two days. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Road strengthening works will commence on the L-1603 at Camross on Wednesday 17th April 2019. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to last two days. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  

TUBBERCURRY AREA

  • Road strengthening works will commence on the CR 450 at Carrowmurray, Coolaney. Traffic control will be in operation with significant delays expected. Works are expected to last 1 day. A 50km/hr speed limit will be in operation within working zone.
  • Pipelaying works for Irish Water are programmed to commence during the week along the Ballina Road (R294) between the outskirts of Tobercurry Town and Annagh Bridge on the River Moy. A traffic management plan will be in place but motorists can expect minor delays with temporary traffic lights in operation.  These works are expected to be ongoing for a number of weeks.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

  

STRANDHILL AREA   

  • Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Sligo Strandhill area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

Road strengthening works will take place on the following roads from Wednesday 10th April.

TULLYMORE L-1301-0:

  • Local Road L-1301-0 in Tullymore from its junction with Local Road L-13017-0 to its junction with Regional Road R-290-76. Traffic diversion will be in place. Minor delays expected.
