Traffic Report W/C 13th January, 2020

SLIGO AREA

Cranmore Drive – Devins Drive Junction:

  • Traffic restrictions have been removed on Cranmore Road and Devins Drive junction.  However additional care should be taken due to new junction layout and traffic calming measures.

Western Distributor Road:

  • Roadworks continue on the Western Distributor Road.  Temporary traffic management may be in place from time to time along the Oakfield Road and at Caltragh Interchange.  Minor delays expected.     

Ballydoogan Road:

  • Ballydoogan Road will be closed from its junction with Roger Eames Road to its junction with the L-3508 Ransboro Road from 07:00 on Tuesday, 7th January, 2020 to 18:00 on Friday, 14th February, 2020.
  • Also, Roger Eames Road (southern end) will be closed from its junction with Ballydoogan Road to the vehicular entrance to Mitchell Curley Park from 07:00 on Tuesday, 7th January, 2020 to 18:00 on Friday, 14th February, 2020.
  • Diversion routes will be via Ballydoogan Road/Larkhill Road/R292 Strandhill Road/L3501 Barnashrahy Road and will be signed along the entire route.
  • Local access will be maintained at all times to Kevinsfort Heath & Mitchell Curley Park via the R292 Strandhill Road.
  • This road closure is required to facilitate construction works associated with the Western Distributor Road Project.

N4-N15 Sligo Urban Improvement Scheme:

  • N15-N4 Northbound Lane Closure – Lane Closure and Footpath Closure is proposed from 15th January 2020 onwards from Salmon Point to Rosses Point Junction to enable sewer diversion and Structure 04 Enabling works. Major Disruption to traffic is expected.
  • Retaining Wall works on the Rosses Point Road (R291) will continue next week.  Traffic management will be in operation, i.e. a Stop & Go Shuttle System on the R291.  Minor delays are anticipated on the Rosses Point Road and additional care should be taken. 
  • Junction Realignment works will continue next week on the N15 / Rosses Point Road (R291) Junction.  Traffic management will be in operation, i.e. lane narrowing.
  • Sligo County Council (SCC) regrets any inconvenience caused.

O’Connell Street Enhancement Scheme Project:

  • O’Connell Street is closed from its junction with Grattan Street to its junction with Knox Street from 07:00 on Monday, 6th January, 2020 to 18:00 on Thursday, 30th April, 2020. 
  • Alternative Routes will be in place via John Street, Adelaide Street, Wine Street and Knox Street. 
  • Phase 3 works have commenced at Tobergal Lane starting at Carraig Donn - Knox cafe.
  • Site fencing will be extended from Tobergal Lane - Knox cafe Monday 13th January.
  • Carraig Donn Entrance is via Side door on Tobergal Lane until Monday 13th January.

Ard na Veigh Footpath Upgrades:

 

  • Footpath Upgrades will commence in Ard na Veigh (cul-de-sac street) on Monday 13th January (weather dependent) and will take approximately two weeks. Traffic management measures will be in place.

 

NORTH SLIGO AREA:

  • Major Pavement Roadwork’s on the N15 between the townlands of Creevykeel and Castlegal commencing on the 6th of January. Traffic Management will be in operation when required. Major delays to be expected. Motorists to exercise caution. These works are ongoing for January 2020.
  • Roadworks will take place on the N15 National Primary Road at Castlegal, Cliffoney commencing Tuesday 14th January 2020. Works are expected to last 4 days. Traffic management will be in operation and delays may be expected.

 

ENNISCRONE AREA

  • Pothole repair and Surface Drainage works will continue in the Enniscrone area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
  • Drainage works will be carried out on L27014-0 (75) Ballymeeney/Cooneen. Traffic management will be in place.  Minor delays expected.
  • Drainage works will be carried out on L2303-26 (37) Doonflin. Traffic management will be in place.  Minor delays expected.

 

BALLYMOTE AREA

  • Pavement works on the N17 at Ballinacarrow Village will commence on Monday 13th January 2020. The works will consist of planning out the existing road surface and replacing with new surface course. Ironworks (manhole lids etc.) will be raised and reset. Traffic management will be in place between form the out skirts of the village on each approach where the road will be reduced to one lane. The works are expected to last for 5 days. Motorists are advised to expect delays. Sligo County Council regret the inconvenience caused while these essential works are being carried out.
  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Ballymote area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
  • Drainage work will take place on the N4 commencing on Tuesday 14th January in Ballinafad. Traffic control will be in operation with short delays are expected.

N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project:

The construction of the N4 Collooney to Castlebaldwin Road Project is progressing and is expected to be ongoing until Q2, 2021.  Traffic management is in place for the following works:

  • N4/N17 Toberbride Roundabout heading south on the existing N4 towards Dublin - Site Works ongoing for the first 3Km to the junction with the L1302.  Hard Shoulders are closed to traffic.  Please note a 60kph speed limit is in operation in this work zone for the duration of these works.  Minor delays are expected as a result.
  • The L-14019 Local Road from its junction with the N4 National Primary road to the Cloonamahan Health Care Centre is closed to public traffic from the 30th October 2019.  This proposed closure is necessary to facilitate the construction of the realigned Local Road L-14019 and construction of junction with the Western Parallel Link road as part of the above project.  An Alternative route will be made available via the L-3606-9 Local Road and the remaining section of the L-14019 Local Road.
  • A Stop Go System will be in operation 2.8km to the South of the N4/N17 Toberbride Roundabout to allow construction works to take place on the existing N4.   Delays are expected as a result, particularly at peak times.  Sligo County Council and Roadbridge Ltd. regret any inconvenience caused.
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L55015 at Doorly.
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L55016 at Knockagroagh.
  • General Site Works ongoing and bridge construction works to commence on the L5502 at Drumfin.  Localised road layout changes will be in place.  Please follow the traffic management plan in operation.
  • Ongoing General Site works on the L1502 32 at Cloonlurg. 
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L5402 at Carrownagark.  Localised road layout changes will be in place.  Please follow the traffic management plan in operation.
  • General site works and bridge construction works ongoing on the L54033 at Kingsbrook. Localised road layout changes will be in place. Please follow the traffic management plan in operation.
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L5403 at Ardloy.
  • A Stop Go is in operation on the existing N4 at Ardloy Td. which is approximately 3Km northwest (Sligo Town side) of Castlebaldwin Village.  Please note a 60kph speed limit is in operation in this work zone. Delays are expected as a result, particularly at peak times.  Sligo County Council and Roadbridge Ltd. regret any inconvenience caused.  
  • General Site Works ongoing and bridge construction works commenced on the L5401 at Tawnagh.  Localised road layout changes are in place.  Please follow the traffic management plan in operation.
  • Permanent Road Closure of the L54041-0 in the Townland of Sheerevagh from the 4th An alternative route is available via the L-5404-0, L-1403-0, L-1404-0 and the existing N4.  This road is being used as a site access for the construction works.
  • Ongoing General Site Works on the L1404 at Drumderry/Castlebaldwin.
  • Constructing a site access off the existing N4 on the southeast side of Castlebaldwin Village.
  • Hard Shoulders closed to traffic on the existing N4 for approximately 1km to the south of Castlebaldwin Village.  Please note a60kph speed limit is in operation in this work zone.  Sligo County Council and Roadbridge Ltd. regret any inconvenience caused.

Diversion route – Landslide North West of Glen Catholic church:

  • Due to a landslide just North West of Glen Catholic Church causing damage to a section of L 1101-70, a section of the road is closed affecting through traffic.  The diversion routes are (A) via R284 (Geevagh) – L1102-0  - L-1101-22  - L1101-70  (Geevagh – Glen) to  road L1101-70 north west of the road closure, 
  • And (B) R284 Ballyfarnon- Cashel-Gubbarudda- Hillstreet Quarry Entrance-in County Roscommon – Glen Church for access to road L-1101-70 south east of the road closure.

  

TUBBERCURRY AREA 

  • Pothole repair works will continue in the Tubbercurry area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.

 

STRANDHILL AREA

  • Pothole repair works and opening of drainage inlets will continue in the Sligo Strandhill area. Traffic control will be in operation but no delays are expected.
  • Reinstatement works will commence in Ballisodare at the Grotto. No delays are expected.
