Customer Update Beirnes Bins Elphin Ltd

Further to confirmation that Beirnes Bins Elphin Ltd have gone into liquidation, Sligo County Council would like to inform the general public within Sligo that you have the option of engaging the services of any of the remaining permitted waste collectors operating in Sligo.  You can view contact details for all collectors on our website under: Household Waste

Unfortunately, according to the National Consumer Agency, consumers can not be reimbursed by retailers for monies spent on the purchase of bin tags for Beirnes Bins Elphin Ltd.  Rules that pertain to company liquidation would apply.  Consumers who purchased a bin tag would be considered an unsecured creditor and would have to apply to the liquidator for a refund.  Retailers are obliged to hold any monies paid on behalf of the liquidator as they form part of the company’s assets.  Liquidators have no obligations to their consumers who purchased tags prior to liquidation.
