Councillor Michael Fleming, Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council, has highlighted the opportunity ‘Business Networking’ presents for small companies to develop their business, promote job creation and initiate partnerships. The Cathaoirleach was speaking following the recent launch by Taoiseach Enda Kenny T.D. of Re-Connect Western Regional Business Network in the Irish Embassy London. The event was attended by leaders of financial services, manufacturing, creative services and food sectors, all competing very successfully in the global market.
The Cathaoirleach believes there is great potential in the Business Network; ‘Supported by the Western Development Commission, all the local authorities on the western seaboard, Donegal, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Galway, Mayo, County Enterprise Boards, Institutes of Technology, tourism interests and national agencies, this business network comprises many leaders of commerce and industry in the U.K. whose knowledge and leadership would be of immense benefit to developing business in our western region’ .
He encouraged companies to register with the Western Development Commission’s lookwest.ie platform which promotes the western region as an attractive location for enterprise and investment.
The Cathaoirleach commended the members of the Sligo Business Network in London, whose collaboration with the Western Development Commission and Sligo Local Authorities over the past two years has proved to be the foundation of Re-Connect Western Regional Business Network.
‘This initiative is very much in line with recommendations of the second Global Irish Economic reform Report to strengthen connections with the Irish Diaspora.’
