Cathaoirleach Commends I.F.A.

The Cathaoirleach Councillor Michael Fleming said ‘The place of the IFA in Irish history is a matter of public record, and its value to our rural community cannot be over-stated.’ The Cathaoirleach was a guest at a recent function hosted by the Association in Sligo.

‘I have many years experience as a member of Macra na Feirme, which included participation in National Drama festivals, debating, quizzes, judging of stock etc. As a national organiser, I had the privilege of working with many rural communities countrywide.

The IFA has played a major role in developing our agricultural industry, with a clear awareness and commitment to the protection of our environment and promoting family farms and the rural way of life. County Sligo IFA has been well served by members volunteering their time to develop active branches and electing progressive officers to the County Executive.’
