Councillor Joe Leonard Elected Cathaoirleach

Councillor Joe Leonard has been elected Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council at the Council’s Annual General Meeting held on Monday 28th June. Councillor Leonard was proposed by Councillor Imelda Henry and was  seconded by Councillor Gerard Mullaney. Councillor Thomas Collery was elected Leas Cathaoirleach.

Councillor Leonard thanked the outgoing Cathaoirleach Councillor Gerry Murray and Leas Cathaoirleach Councillor Veronica Cawley for their outstanding service over the last year, saying he was honoured to be elected to the position, and was particularly grateful to his colleagues for electing him unanimously as Cathaoirleach.
