Heritage Grants Announced

Mr. John Gormley, T.D., Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has announced a funding package amounting to €11.5m to support built heritage projects in 2010.

County Sligo's allocation for the Conservation Grants Scheme is €59,000.00. The is a also a special allocation of €100,000 to Hazelwood House for conservation works, which will be channelled into the Heritage Council.

Cathaoirleach Councillor Gerry Murray who is also Chair of the Heritage Forum welcomed these allocations saying "this funding is very important in the conservation and promotion of the unique heritage of Sligo.
