Dog Owners Asked To Keep Dogs Under Control

Sligo County Councils Dog Warden attended at a sheep kill in the Rosses Point area on Tuesday last.

As the busy lambing season approaches, the Council is asking all dog owners to ensure their dogs are under control at all times.  All dogs have the potential to worry or attack sheep.

At this time of year when ewes are heavily in lamb any worrying can cause ewes to lose lambs.  Dog owners are liable for all costs if their dog attacks sheep and the landowner has the right to shoot any dog on their property which is a threat to livestock.  These consequences can be avoided if dog owners ensure that their dogs are under control.
