I would like to start by welcoming the judges to County Sligo and I am delighted to join you all this morning for this very important day for the Ballintogher community. Since it was founded in the 1990s Ballintogher Community Enterprises has worked with all the local groups in co-ordinating different activities, from the Tidy Towns, Active Age groups to the redevelopment of the community centre. You can be proud of your achievements, and your efforts have been acknowledged and rewarded by being selected for nomination in these awards.

It is encouraging to see so many people willing to give generously of their time and their energy for the betterment of their neighbourhood, and nowhere is this commitment more in evidence than in the Pride of Place initiative.

I will conclude by wishing the judging panel a pleasant few days in Sligo and once again to praise the many people who have worked tirelessly to enhance and improve their communities.

Thank you
