Roger Eames Road

Mayor of Sligo Municipal District Councillor Marie Casserly welcomed members of the Eames family to the official naming of the ‘Roger Eames’ Road in Ballydoogan on Saturday. The opening ceremony was followed by a reception hosted by the Mayor in City Hall, which was attended by Eames family and friends, local Councillors, representatives of St Mary’s GAA Club and Sligo Community Games.

Major Award for Sligo Engineer

A major national award has been won by a local chartered engineer, Gary Salter, Senior Executive Engineer with Sligo County Council, who has been presented with Engineers Ireland, Excellence Award in the Heritage and Conservation category for his work on Culfadda Bridge. The Awards are sponsored by the Office of Public Works and the presentation ceremony was held in the InterContinental Hotel Dublin.

Cathaoirleach Honours Fire Service Personnel

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Hubert Keaney has honoured Sligo Fire Service personnel for their service over many years. At a ceremony in County Hall Members of Sligo and Enniscrone Units were presented with long-service certificates, and a special presentation was made to retained Fire-fighter Cyril McNamara who retired from the Service in 2016.

€0.7 MILLION TO HELP BUILD POSITIVE RELATIONS

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo County Council Councillor Hubert Keaney has welcomed the announcement of significant EU funding by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme to help build positive relations. Approximately €773,000 has been offered to Sligo County Council under the Programme.
